An eraser is used if a student is writing a draft which will be changed before the final product is completed. Erasing written material is easier and less confusing than crossing out the word or words. Pink erasers are usually the norm or the grey colored ones which are more sturdy and hold up a little better over time. The beige rectangular rubbery erasers crumble and leave a lot of debris when used.
